When you shop at Whole Foods Market® (WFM) Deerfield on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 5 percent of your purchase will benefit children with disabilities living in Deerfield and the surrounding North Shore communities.
WFM® Deerfield is partnering with the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Chicago (UCP) to raise money and awareness for its recycling program, Assistive Technology Exchange Network (ATEN). This program gives Illinois public school children with any disability access to educational technology via refurbished computers.
There are two direct beneficiaries of ATEN: the children with disabilities who receive the customized, refurbished technology, and the Illinois landfills through the diversion of computer electronics containing lethal toxins and other hazardous material.
Founded in 1980 as one small store in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market® (www.wholefoodsmarket.com) is now the world's leading retailer of natural and organic foods, with 194 stores in North America and the United Kingdom.
