The Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Rotary Club is gearing up for its annual Lake Forest Antique Auto Show on Sunday, July 20th. The 70 member local Rotary Club is again hosting one of the premier local family entertainment events of the year along with the Illinois Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA).

Now in its 60th year, the Antique Auto Show presents “Post War Vehicles (1946 to 1949)” and will feature classic vehicles and vintage sports cars. The crown jewel of this event will be a rarely displayed Tucker 48 sedan. It is one of 47 surviving models manufactured by Preston Tucker and was described as “The Car of the Future.” The event regularly draws over 3,000 car enthusiast and their families. It will be held at Deerpath Middle School, located on Deerpath Road between Highway 41 and Green Bay Road, in the heart of Lake Forest. It opens at 9:00 AM and concludes with an awards presentation at 3:00 PM.

The proceeds from this year’s Antique Auto Show will benefit The Cradle Foundation and will be used to purchase new cribs for The Cradle’s onsite infant nursery. Established in Evanston in 1923, The Cradle is a private, not-for-profit, nonsectarian adoption and child welfare agency and a North Shore institution. With a mission of helping to create and sustain nurturing families, The Cradle has placed more than 14,500 babies and children in loving homes since opening its doors.

“It is a fun day for the entire family with food and entertainment,” said John Looby, Event Chairperson. “The number and the quality of cars in one place at our show are unrivaled almost anywhere,” he noted. “You don’t even need to be a car buff to appreciate these cars in the history they represent.”

We expect over 300 vintage cars on display, covering over 15 acres around the north end of the Deerpath School,” added Bob Grutza, the local AACA representative. It is really an impressive and thrilling spectacle.”

Vehicles from 1983 or older can be entered for a fee of $15.00 to display a car and $30.00 for judged vehicles. The deadline for pre-registration is July 10th. General public admission is $10.00.

The AACA is the oldest and largest antique car organization in the world, and the Lake Forest Antique Auto Show is one of the largest in the country. The Rotary Club partners proudly with the AACA, which is renowned for promoting pristine preservation and restoration of antique automobiles.
