Kokyo Taiko performs Japanese drum show at garden fest
Eileen Prendergast of the Chicago Botanic Garden welcomes the audience to the show.

Kokyo Taiko Drum Troupe from the Buddhist Temple of Chicago performed for hundreds at the Chicago Botanic Garden Aug. 17 as part of the Malott Japanese Garden Summer Festival.

The two-day long fest featured musical performances, storytelling and a tea ceremony demonstration as well as activities including writing haikus, raking miniature dry gardens, using chopsticks and practicing calligraphy.

The Kokyo Taiko drum troupe lead by Peggy Wallace performed 7 songs on hand-made drums in the McGinley Pavillion.
