New Trier Township is accepting applications to provide financial support for child care costs to parents with demonstrated financial need who are working, attending school, or in a job training program.
“Child care is central to the support of families, enabling parents to achieve financial independence while their children are in a quality setting,” noted Supervisor Patricia B. Cantor. However, child care is one of the largest expenses families face. In Illinois, the average annual price for a 4-year-old child in a child care center is $7,802. The average annual price of care for a school age child is $5,072 but that amount increases to $10,550 for an infant in day care, according to The National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies.
“Although our funds are limited we want our community to know how to access this vital support for working families,” added Cantor. “Any family in need is encouraged to apply,” she added.
To be eligible for assistance, you must:
• Have lawful custody of a child under age 13 who receives care in a licensed facility
• Be a resident of New Trier Township
• Work full-time; attend school; and/or are in job training
• Meet income guidelines.
