Northfield celebrates Arbor Day with new tree
All those in attendance gather round the Baldcypress tree to be planted in Willow Park.

The newly-renovated Willow Park, off of Willow and Wagner roads in Northfield, has another tree as of April 25. Officials, residents and the Sunset Ridge fourth grade class planted a Baldcypress in honor of Arbor Day. This is the 23rd year the Village of Northfield has been named a "Tree City USA."

The tree was dedicated to the memory of James A. Clarkson, the first Park District director.

After the dedication and planting, the winners of the Arbor Day poems contest was announce and the fourth graders had a chance to test their tree knowledge with games and prizes.
