Take a break from a cold winter’s night for a warm night of music and laughter as Heartland Animal Shelter welcomes back Peter Mayer for his Second Annual Concert to benefit the cats and dogs at Heartland. The concert is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Northbrook Theatre – Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue.

Not only can winter weather be a time of illness and injury if people fail to take appropriate health and safety precautions, but harsh conditions can be tough on pets as well. Following are some tips from the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center on how to help keep your pet safe and healthy this winter.

The animals at Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook have been good this year and are looking for nice families to move into their forever homes. And while they are waiting, they are hoping Santa and his many elves help out the shelter with extra donations during the holiday season.
