Chess pieces move on their own
The 32 players, along with spectators, congregated in Cook Park.

Taking a page from the "Harry Potter" series, the Cook Memorial Public Library had families step into the positions of pawns, rooks and knights.

During the Get Checked! Life-Size Chess Game, the players were the pieces. They moved across the game board, situated in Libertyville's Cook Park, capturing opposing pieces until one team was victorius.

The black team put up a great fight, but after an hour-long game, the white team won out.
