Goose Is Loose again in Libertyville
A giant inflated goose oversees the Goose Is Loose Festival.

Goose dropping was popular once again in Libertyville August 23, as more than 1,000 people turned out to enjoy the live music, food, drink, carnival games and fireworks display at the third annual Goose Is Loose Festival. But most of all they came to see the Goose Dropping.

The Village of Libertyville and Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club put on the festival, which benefits more than 20 local charities. Raffle numbers were attached to 2,500 rawhide geese, each outfitted with a little parachute. The geese were dropped from a height of around 100 feet over the driving range at Libertyville Sports Complex, with the goose judged to land closest to a designated target bringing a prize of $35,000 for a lucky winner. Seven other targets determined prizes of $500 each.
