Summer is officially upon us and the weather – in between violent thunderstorms – is turning warmer. And, with the change in the weather I've been covering a lot more outdoor events.

In the 1990s, DVD was the fastest growing technological phenomenon in history. People were buying DVD players faster than their parents bought televisions in the 1950s. Suddenly, high quality digital video made the old VCR look very old fashioned.

It’s the beginning of April and those still holding true to their New Year’s resolutions deserve a round of applause.

While there are those who poke fun at reality television and think it isn’t on par with scripted television, I’m a firm believer in both genres. I do have my standards, however.

No, the headline isn’t an exaggeration. This year I wasn’t sitting on my couch marking off which of my Oscars predictions were correct on my printed off ballot on Feb. 24.

Surprisingly, this TV Fiend goes to the movies, a lot. Especially during my favorite season of the year: award season. I prepare for award shows like I am actually involved.
