The Village of Oswego invites you to the annual Christmas Walk Celebration. Held on Friday, Dec. 5, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. in downtown Oswego, the Oswego Christmas Walk “Home for the Holidays” will include festive holiday activities for the entire community to enjoy.
The night will begin with the tree lighting ceremony on Main Street near the Fire Station. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the tree lighting ceremony will include musical entertainment provided by the Oswego East High School group Spotlight.
At 7 p.m., the Silent, Illuminated Fire Truck parade will make its way down Main Street. Fire trucks from Oswego and other local fire departments will participate in this annual event.
Other activities throughout the night include Toyland Train rides sponsored by the Oswego Chamber of Commerce, the Sledding Hill (giant slide) sponsored by Alden Gardens of Waterford, ice carving demonstrations sponsored by HRM Properties and Development, LLC, strolling carolers and characters including Mr. Snowman and the most famous Mr. and Mrs. Mouse, holiday music, kids crafts, a performance by the Oswego Presbyterian Handbell Choir, and shopping opportunities in the wonderful downtown businesses. Stop at the Little White School museum, hosted by the Oswegoland Park District and enjoy arts, crafts, music and live bunnies.
Don’t miss a Visit with Santa, sponsored and hosted by the Oswego Visitors Bureau. Free pictures with Santa will be taken from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Oswego Visitors Bureau, located at 26 Van Buren, please use the entrance just off Main Street at the corner of Main and Van Buren.
A Taste of Oswego will also be available. Visit local restaurants and food vendors along Main Street and sample a taste of their best fare. Delicious and tantalizing food will be available at a reasonable price; you and your families will want to get a taste from every vendor! Stop in the Church of the Good Shepherd to warm up and enjoy their chili and pie supper. The American Legion will also be hosting their Friday night Fish Fry and marshmallow roasting.
At Hudson Crossing Park, which is located at the corner of Harrison and Washington Street, enjoy the splendor and beauty of the Fox River as you and your families enjoy a ride on the Belgium Draft Horse Hay Ride sponsored by R.J. Kuhn Plumbing and Heating or on Santa’s Sleigh sponsored by Castle Bank.
