With paddles and canoes strapped to the tops of their cars, people from all over the country and all corners of Illinois headed to the Oak Spring Road Canoe Launch in Libertyville, Ill. for the 51st Annual Des Plaines River Canoe Marathon.
"It was like riding a bicycle over ski moguls," said Rondi Stickney of Yorkville after she and her teammates finished a 3-mile trek through Silver Springs wooded trails.
Sheyanne Tipsord, 3 from Paw Paw, caught her very first fish, a bluegill that measured in at slightly over 3-inches long. She squealed with delight.
