Deck the halls! On Friday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 9 p.m., Holiday Under the Stars is kicking off your holiday season in a spectacular way! Beginning an hour earlier than last year, the evening is packed full of all your favorites plus more at Town Square Park, Rt. 47 & Main St.

All your favorites from last year will be back, include live petting reindeer and horse and carriage rides from 5 - 9 p.m., an ice carver who’ll transform a block of ice into a holiday masterpiece from 6:30 to 8 p.m., several live musical performances, and of course, a visit from Santa.

At 6:00 p.m., don’t miss the traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony by Mayor Valerie Burd. This year, the Plano Lamplight Singers will accompany with festive caroling.

Then swing, sway, jump and jive from 6:30 – 8 p.m. to the Yorkville Big Band’s traditional holiday music extravaganza at Parkview Christian Academy. All your musical holiday favorites—Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, Deck the Halls, Here Comes Santa Claus and more will come alive as musical director Rick Falato leads the band in a performance that is sure to warm you up for the holidays.

Plus, be sure to check out all the brand new exciting events! Beginning at 5:00 p.m., try your hand at NEW ice toss and ice tic-tac-toe games, or enjoy our larger all-weather skating rink – skates included – all night long! Kids can decorate their very own free holiday cookie in the warming tent, sponsored by Old Second National Bank, while everyone can enjoy warm drinks and food from local community vendors throughout the evening.

And don’t miss the brand new Gold Star Academy of Dance holiday performance at Parkview Christian Academy from 5:30 - 6 p.m.

From 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., a live D.J. in the main tent will keep your spirits high while you visit all the activities the festival has to offer! Meanwhile, hop on one of the NEW Holiday Lighting Tour Trolleys for a tour of some of the most beautifully lighted homes in the area. Trolleys leave from Town Square Park about every 20 minutes.

Want to settle down with some stories of the winter and holiday season? Brand new this year, storyteller Lynne Clayton will warm your heart with stories for all ages at 6:00, 7:00, and 8:00 p.m. at the historical Chapel on the Green, adjacent to Town Square.

Coffee, hot cocoa, popcorn, hot dogs, chili, fresh roasted chestnuts and more tasty selections will be available for purchase through community groups the entire night! Plus, kids can make and take home a special ornament with Jacob’s Well. Other community organizations present will include St. Patrick’s Women’s Club, the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce, Parkview Christian Academy, Mothers of Preschoolers, and many more.

Plus, show how big your heart is this season by bringing new hats, gloves, socks, and other warm clothing to benefit those in need this winter. Stop by the main warming tent during the festival, where the Human Resources Commission will be collecting the clothing items for the Kendall County Food Pantry.

With so much to see and do, you won’t be able to keep from getting into the holiday spirit! So bring your family and friends, and let the second annual United City of Yorkville holiday event spark your holiday spirit this season.

No parking will be available surrounding Town Square Park. Free shuttles will be available to and from parking between 4:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Yorkville Academy and Yorkville Grade Schools.
