Frieda Lounda of the YIVO Society introduces the performers to the crowd.

Bibi Marcell, Shelley Yoelin and Bobby Schiff from the Chicago YIVO (Yidisher Visnshaftlekher Institut) Society made a stop at the Northbrook Public Library to perform a concert July 17 as part of their 2008 Summer Festival of Yiddish Culture.

Co-sponsored by the Public Libraries of Chicago, Evanston, Northbrook, Skokie, Wheeling and Wilmette, the Summer Festival drew a crowd of more than 100 music lovers to the library auditorium.

The trio performed songs in Yiddish, with Marcell on guitar and vocals, Yoelin on the clarinet and Schiff on the piano. For more information on upcoming performances, go to the society's Web site.
