Wood Oaks welcomes students, families at barbecue
Debbie Jutzi and Nhan Bendewald, both of Northbrook, grab some dinner at the Wood Oaks Junior High School family barbecue.

After a long summer away from a classroom and homework, Wood Oaks Junior High School students and their families flocked to the school for a back-to-school family barbecue from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 19.

Principal Marc Schaffer said this is the first year the school has hosted the family barbecue in conjunction with the Parent Teacher Association he hopes it will get everyone in a better mood to head back to school on Aug. 21.

Thanks to emcee and Wood Oaks P.E. teacher Dan Dondit, families enjoyed music, games and dancing while catching up with old friends after a long summer and meeting some new classmates. Dinner was provided by Little Louie's in Northbrook.
