
Music fans won't have to dole out cash in order to enjoy a night of songs under the stars or toe-tapping tunes. Many area villages are providing all types of music, from pop to classical and rock to disco, for free all summer long.
Every week throughout the summer, Wilmette residents can find fun and entertaining concerts in the Wilmette and Evanston areas.

Starlight Theatre at the Wallace Bowl in Gillson Park presents concerts at 8 p.m. unless noted otherwise. Lawn chairs (no recliners) may be used only in the grass. Come early and stay late, or come for an hour whenever you can fit it into your busy day. The timing is meant to accommodate all family schedules. Bring picnic baskets overflowing with your favorite summer eats and bring lots of family and friends to share them with! A good time has been had by all regardless of age! Evanston's Starlight Concert Series, held through August 26 at James Park, Dodge Avenue at Mulford; Dawes Park, along the lakefront, Sheridan Road at Church Street; Twiggs Park, at Simpson Street and Dodge Avenue; and Harbert Park, east of Canal and just south of Dempster Street. Rain sites are the Levy Center, 300 Dodge, for James and Dawes Park concerts, or the Fleetwood-Jourdain Center, 1655 Foster St., for Harbert and Twiggs Park concerts.

Evanston Symphony Orchestra presents free summer concerts at Westfield Old Orchard, located at the intersection of Skokie Boulevard and Old Orchard Road, Skokie.
Performances are held from 2-4 p.m. on select Sundays at the north end of the outdoor center, featuring two 45-minute sets with an intermission. June 22: Evanston Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Lawrence Eckerling, will present light classics from classical symphonies to Broadway shows and movie scores.
June 29: Evanston Symphony Jazz Sextet will team with musicians from Larry Eckerling & His Orchestra to perform music from Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman to Miles Davis and David Sanborn.
